More than 250 products from around the country were awarded 2020 Blas na hÉireann titles this past weekend. Among the winners are no less than 35 of our wonderful producers. But we are especially proud to say it was Waterford’s Irish Gourmet Butter which picked up the Best Artisan Product award.
Produced by Billy and Mary Sharpe in Dunhill and inspired by Mary's grandmother, who was and All-Ireland Butter Making Champion in the 1936 and 1937 as well as a lecturer in Dairy Science in Maynooth University. The duo has form when it comes to Blas na hÉireann, having won silver in the flavoured butter category in 2017 for their garlic and herb butter and also finalists in 2018.
Other Waterford winners included Anchor Spirits, Beatha Bakery, Legacy Irish Cider, Mezze, Dessert First, Tastefully Yours and Blackwater Distillery.
