Meet the Waterford Makers
- May 29, 2018
There’s a uniqueness to Waterford food that is borne of locality; the lush pastures and fertile soil, the sweep of the heathery Comeragh Mountains down to the fresh sea waters off the Copper Coast, and even the history of our ancient port where we have been importing and exporting foodstuffs for generations.
Food the Waterford Way was set up in 2017 with the aim of bringing together Waterford’s abundant community of makers, bakers, brewers, distillers, and growers.
These producers in turn nominate restaurants, cafes and retailers who promote, sell, and use their produce. The result is a trail running across the county, from the harbour at Dunmore East to the mountains of the westerly Blackwater Valley, on which you can experience the food, meet the people and hear their stories.
What better way to explore, engage and understand a region than by sharing in their food and drink?
Ardkeen Quality food Store are proud members of Food the Waterford Way and this bank holiday weekend we are going full-on Waterford as we showcase our local producers and we hope you will call instore to sample the true taste of Waterford including; Blackwater Distillery, Coffee House Lane, Déise Honey, Dessert First, Dungarvan Brewing Co., El Sombrero, Gino’s Ice cream, Hartrey Kitchen, Metalman Brewing, Mezze, Nutrilicious, Pure Food, The Sea Gardener and Walsh’s Bakehouse.
